Islamic Art
Islamic art pertains to all art created with any Islamic affiliation, not just art created specifically for the Muslim faith. Islam encouraged aniconism, avoiding images of religious figures in any manifestation. Because of this, Islamic art mainly centers on geometric patterns, vegetal patterns, and calligraphy.
Umayadd Caliphate
The Umayyad Caliphate, one of the four major caliphates established after the death of Mohammed, is considered to be the major birthplace of Islamic Art.
