The Qasida
Arabians developed the Qasida before the settlement of Islam. To grab the reader’s attention, the Qasida usually began with a short prelude, usually a love piece. The prelude is then followed by the poet’s journey, and ends with a tribute to the person or people of the poet’s choice. After Islam had settled in, Qasida were used to praise God.
